Respiratory ailments are common in this part of Nicaragua... dust from unpaved roads and pesticides from crops contribute to chronic conditions that affect children and adults alike.

Your donation to the Roberto Clemente Clinic will ensure the lights never go out and our local doctor and nurses can serve the community...

Sponsor a child's education or a person's career
While we were in Nicaragua in our last administrative visit, we have received many requests for help and sponsorship.  These requests come from children, from children's parents, and from young adults - usually at the beginnings of their career - who need help to get any further with their lives.  If you feel able to help any of these people, then we will gladly take on the responsibility of ensuring that the funds get to those involved.

Help Us to Save More Lives

In Nicaragua

Your donation will help a child in trouble….

The time has come to expand the Clinic. We need a second building to accommodate more of us “gringo” patients with a laboratory and trauma room for surgical repairs of the many accidents encountered in the area—surfing, construction, and vehicular. Of course, an expanded facility would also benefit the local population and provide a better place to deliver babies that can’t wait to get to the hospital in Rivas to be born.

Please use the button below to donate your $100 specifically allocated as seed money toward the second Clinic building on the existing property that is currently being named the Centeno Building.

Help Us to Save More Lives

In Nicaragua

Your donation will help a child in trouble….

Dear Visitor to Nicaragua,

Last week we received bad news from our non-profit health clinic near Tola, Nicaragua. Dr. Flores helped deliver a premature newborn last week. The baby was 26 weeks old and the mother’s health was not the best. She was scared and nervous. Her son needed neonatal intensive care. Unfortunately, our clinic was not equipped to deal with the baby’s immediate need for special care, and the lack of an ambulance for prompt transport to another clinic only made things worse. Our team, Dr. Flores and the nurses, managed to transfer the woman and the baby to the main hospital in Rivas, 1:30 minutes away, but the baby didn’t survive. At the Roberto Clemente Santa Ana Health Clinic we try our
best to save lives and improve the quality of health in this remote community. But sometimes we find ourselves too short on resources.

You can also volunteer overseas with our partner organization FIRMC. Volunteer in Nicaragua is very easy and you do not necessarily need to be in the healthcare industry. We can receive any kind of volunteers; especially those who want to have an international volunteer experience and contribute to the humanitarian world class.

Why Help is Needed

E-mail

Dear Friend of the Clinic,

Please take a moment to imagine this scene...

As the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean, surfers pack up their boards and tourists sip drinks on the beach. Not far away, Angelica Ruiz is giving birth at the Roberto Clemente – Santa Ana Health Clinic near Rancho Santana, Nicaragua.

Angelica is grateful she has somewhere clean and safe she can go to give birth, but she knows it will not be easy. The baby is early and she herself is not in the best health, like many people in the area. Residents of the region suffer from various ailments; respiratory problems are most prevalent, from dusty roads and pesticides from crops. There are also gastrointestinal illnesses from the lack of potable water, and lack of good nutrition.
