Julia Guth, Director of the Clinic
Julia Guth has been the Executive Director of The Oxford Club (a private club specializing in investment education and opportunities) for 14 years. For students of Investment U and members of The Oxford Club, she is a tireless advocate for attaining their respective goals and values. Ms. Guth holds an MBA from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. A former specialist for Maryland's Office of International Trade, Ms. Guth was also an investment-services representative for one of the country's leading financial-services firms. Ms. Guth has written many reports on real estate in the Yucatan (Mexico) and Nicaragua. In addition, she has lived in countries like Spain and Brazil. Julia was part of the original team that arrived to what is now Rancho Santana, on horseback, back in 1998.
La señora Guth ha sido la directora ejecutiva de Club Oxford (un club privado especializado en la asesoría a inversionistas) durante los últimos 14 años. Juan Muñoz, Manager Director
Juan Muñoz is the Executive Director of www.SuInversion.com a Hispanic financial publication designed to educate the nascent and intermediate investor on how to maximize the yield of his or her savings. In addition, he is the Founder and Executive Director of WWW.ADRTRADERS.COM a publication that informs its readers of the best investment opportunities and strategies around the world. As a high quality publication, www.adrtraders.com currently specializes in finding stocks, funds, ETF and any type of investment tools to give you ideas for your personal investment research.
He also provides marketing and e-commerce advise to private and non-profit organizational in the US and Latin America. Strategic planning is vital to understanding where and how to improve a business. Within eCommerce, where change is constant, strategy based on customer behavior and online best practices is a must. Mr Muñoz works with both startup and existing eCommerce businesses developing strategies that drive customer acquisition and retention. He helps his clients identify and execute their online opportunities within technology, marketing, and web usability and the Chamber is one them.
Mr. Muñoz attended the Universidad Javeriana and earned a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in International Business and complemented with Financial and Marketing classes at Montclair State University. He began his career in 1996, working in the commercial area of the Bavaria Group (Colombia). He then applied his knowledge of capital markets on Wall Street at the investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was an analyst in the Emerging Markets Fixed Income Group specializing in Latin American markets. Mr. Muñoz has also worked with Dexia Local Credit of France, where he handled a Credit Risk portfolio for Latin America.
In addition to his work in finance, Mr. Muñoz also dedicates time to serving the Hispanic-American community. He participated on the Board of Profesionales y Estudiantes en el Exterior (PECX), and serves as an Advisory Board for Nicaclinic.org. He also collaborates with the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with in workforce development efforts in the City of Baltimore, and now serves as a Board Member.
Mr. Muñoz has been an invited speaker on CNN’s Spanish program EN EFECTIVO broadcasted to throughout Latin America. His work was featured in HISPANIC TRENDS and has been syndicated in LaBolsa.com (Spain), La Prensa (Panamá) and the Washington Voz (DC), Dinero.com (Col) La Republica(Col), Rankia.com and other publications.
Margie Fincham, Healthcare Manager
California native Margie Fincham is the newest member to the clinic team. As a certified Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, she brings with her years of experience in gerontology and hospice care. She has given numerous presentations for the American Cancer Society, Hospice and Rotary in California. Margie also has published an educational video, How to prepare for a peaceful death: Allies In Transition and also Stories I’ve Lived by Sister Manuela Dieringer. Margie is learning Spanish as she travels more and more to the clinic. She and Dr. Flores have made a great team together and hope to accomplish many goals in the future for the Clinic.
Dr. Julio Flores Rivas Medical Director
Doctor Flores received his degree in Medicine from the Universidad Nacional de Managua, the premier medical school in Nicaragua. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health – with a concentration in Management Services - from CIES, the Center for Investigation and Studies of Health, at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua.
Of the many doctors proposed for the clinic by the SILAIS (Local Integral Health Care System) of Rivas, Doctor Flores appeared to be the best candidate. His work has certainly validated our choice. Doctor Flores was named the director of the SILAIS itself in 2004.
Dr. Flores recently informed us that the clinic will probably see 10,000 patients in 2006!
Juan Vargas Director Administrativo
El Sr. Vargas ha ocupado diferentes puestos de gerencia en organizaciones sin fines de lucro. Una de ellas fue en la Federación Red NicaSalud donde desempeño el cargo de Gerente Financiero administrando fondos provenientes de USAID, FONDO MUNDIAL, FUNDACIÓN BILL & MELINDA GATES, FUNDACION SODIS, EHP, JHU, FANTA-AED. Tambien trabajo en la Cámara de Industrias de Nicaragua fungió como Gerente Administrativo y participaba en el equipo supervisor de proyecto financiados por ONUDI, OEA, BID. En ambas instituciones ha interactuado con Juntas Directivas, ha sido delegado para representar a éstas organizaciones en grupos multidisciplinarios con Instituciones del Gobierno, Organismos Internacionales, Empresa Privada lo cual le ha generado habilidades y destrezas en diferentes procesos de negociación.
El Sr. Vargas ha contribuido con su país en los proceso de formulación de leyes y reglamentos, la administración de fondos provenientes de organismo internacionales le han permitido interactuar con firmas Auditora Internacionales como Price Wather House Cooper, KPMG, Granth Thornton.
Desarrolló sus estudios de MBA en Chile, en la Universidad Austral, en la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) realizó cursos de Comercio Internacional, obtuvo su licenciatura en Administración de Empresa en la Universidad Centroamericana de Nicaragua, y ha tenido la oportunidad de realizar estudios en varios temas económicos en diferentes organizaciones regionales de Centroamérica (Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica).
Martha Cerda Miranda Nurse
In 1979, Martha began her nursing career at Gaspar García Hospital in Rivas. During her time there, she made a special study of electrocardiograms.
While in Rivas, Martha served as a social worker at ZNSBI. In 1998, she worked for MINSA (the Ministry of Health), also in Rivas. Martha’s post-graduate education has included classes in leadership, family planning and quality management.
Before coming to the Clinic, Martha worked at the Health Center of San Ignacio, a community not far from Limón. Martha was very popular with the patients there, and many offered her gifts to entice her to stay.
Mayela de los Angeles Martínez Torres Maintenance
Mayela is responsible for the Clinic’s maintenance. She holds a Master’s degree in teaching, and began her teaching career at the José Dolores Estrada School in the community of Cuascoto. Mayela taught for 17 years.
As head of maintenance at the Clinic, Mayela is responsible for both the upkeep of the Clinic itself, and maintenance of the Clinic’s inventories of medical equipment and supplies. In addition, she works on special projects, such as community communication and gathering data for the Clinic’s medical census program.
