Testimonial from Our Donors in Nicaragua

When my husband and I decided that we wanted to build a vacation/retirement home at the beach in Nicaragua, it was important to us as guests in a new country to feel we were giving, not just taking from our new friends. We were excited to learn of the Roberto Clemente Clinica in our village, even more so to know that it was not only serving the medical needs of the community, but also involving itself in many other ways to advance and enhance the lives of the local people. It has been our pleasure as we have built our home to give of what resources we had available.

We have already had opportunity to use the clinic as patients and see first hand the high level of care that this clinic is providing. Even so, one look at the clinic's website and you will see that they have many needs and that every little bit of help will make a huge difference. It is our intention as we spend more and more time in our new home to make ourselves available as needs arise.

We have invested a great deal of our hearts in the country of Nicaragua. It is our dream come true to become a part of such a beautiful place. Our family hopes to make a positive impact on our new community and look forward to sharing its beauty with our neighbors.

Dear Executive Director,

My wife and I want to do a vacation/mission trip to Nicaragua.  I found out about your clinic through Dr. Bill Jones.  My wife an I own an ultrasound business based in Monterey, Ca.  We would love to offer our equipment and a sonographer to perform general, OB, vasacular and small parts ultrasound to your patients.  May also be able to perform echo/cardiac ultrasound exams.

Dr. Jones explained how impressed he was with your clinic and the work you are doing in your community.

We would love to donate our time and resources to help.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Corey Gaston

Dear Julio,

I wanted to thank you for all your help in getting our Surfer's Medical Association group to help out a little bit at the clinic as well as adding a few supplies to the pharmacy. I am very impressed with the clinic set up and the superb organization of the staff and materials. Gregg MacDonald is exceptional, not only as an ambassador for the organization, but a conscientious organizer as well. Dr. Julio Flores is a very versatile professional, who works well with patients and the staff. Having worked throughout Mexico, other Central American countries and numerous clinics in Indonesia and Pacific Rim Islands in many clinics, I was very impressed with the cleanliness with the clinic, the positive attitude of the staff and the quality of service to the patients. The SMA is planning another conference/clinic next year and I will keep you apprised of the dates. I will also act as a clearing house for other SMA docs who may be headed your way.

Many thanks again. en servicio,

Dr. Bill Jones

Subject: Thank You

Hi Julia:

I visited the Roberto Clemente clinic about 10 days ago while at Rancho Santana.  I was very impressed with the people, and grateful to all at the Ranch for supporting this.  I've printed out the sheet and will mail a check today.

Happy New Year,

Robin Dea, M.D.

“I’ve spent over 40 years surfing all over the world with friends and family.  Few spots compare with Popoyo Surf Zone for consistent world-class surf.  During our travels, my friends and I suffered fin cuts, broken arms and even world-class Montezuma’s revenge – most of the time without any nearby medical help.  It is a huge relief to know that Dr. Flores and the Clinic are right there when you need them to patch you up and get you back in the water.”  Miles Walsh

I just wanted to send you a note complimenting the whole program at Rancho Santana.  My family and I enjoyed our recent stay in conjunction with my serving as a volunteer physician at the nearby clinic.  The clinic is busy and productive serving 20-30 patients per day, and is developing a good reputation for service quality in the Limon valley.  We did the clinic's first EKG while I was there.  The doctor seems knowledgeable and has an efficient staff operation.

Doctors volunteering there should be aware that it is mostly primary care/family medicine.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a great deal of growth in the area over a 10 year period to the point where the clinic expands to become more of a regional hospital (nearest currently is in Rivas 30 long bumpy kilometers away).  But, I would encourage all who have an interest in helping out while exploring real estate options, or just enjoying Rancho Santana to go!

If it would be of interest to readers of the Rancho Santana web site, I'd be open to sending you a CD of the slide show I'm putting together on volunteering at the clinic.  I would think of it as a link that other potential volunteers might find interesting.  Or, perhaps you could just use a text message testimonial from us in some way.  Just
ask.

Thanks for all your help in making our trip to Nicaragua successful!

Michael Wingren, M.D.

New Testimonials from our Visitors

Currenty we have groups of 10 to 20 people visiting the Clinic each month. FIMRC have been working very well for us and they continue bringing more and more volunteers from different colleges and other institutions to practice and learn from our medical team. You can also volunteer overseas with our partner organization FIRMC. Volunteer in Nicaragua is very easy and you do not necessarily need to be in the healthcare industry. We can receive any kind of volunteers; especially those who want to have an international volunteer experience and contribute to the humanitarian world class.

Gracias FIMRC,
